Baby Kookaburra - Sydney, Australia
Pronounced Cook-uh-bar-ra
My husband took this photo January 13, 2003.  It's the youngest kookaburra we've seen.

It sits in the trees and calls to its mother for food most of the day.  Its call is different from an adult call and much quieter.
It's been coming closer to us each day.  It was 3 feet away from Peter when he took the photo.  Absolutely beautiful.  Notice its white feathers have brown markings and its lower beak is still dark.
